Carol Barlow Lear (Democratic Party) is a member of the Utah State Board of Education, representing District 6. She assumed office on January 2, 2023. Her current term ends on January 1, 2029.
Lear (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Utah State Board of Education to represent District 6. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Lear was a candidate for the Precinct 6 seat on the Salt Lake City Board of Education in Utah. She lost in the primary election on June 24, 2014 to fellow challengers Weston Clark and Melissa H. Ford. Incumbent Laurel Heath Young did not file for re-election.
Biography
Carol Barlow Lear graduated from Olympus High School. Lear earned a bachelor's degree in English and a law degree from the University of Utah. Her career experience includes working as an attorney, an adjunct professor with Utah State University, and the director of law and policy of the Utah State Office of Education.[1][2]
