Carol Becker was a member of the Minneapolis Board of Estimate and Taxation in Minnesota. Becker assumed office in 2006. Becker left office on December 31, 2021.

Becker ran for re-election to the Minneapolis Board of Estimate and Taxation in Minnesota. Becker won in the general election on November 7, 2017.

Although board of estimate and taxation elections are officially nonpartisan, Becker was endorsed by the DFL.[1]

Becker earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, a master's degree from the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and a doctorate of public administration from Hamline University.[2]

Becker's experience includes work as a policy and budget management analyst for the city of Minneapolis, a planning analyst for the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities, the finance director for the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, an adjunct professor at Hamline University, and a payment system project manager and budget and operations manager and analyst for the Minnesota Department of Health.[2] She has also served as a member of the DFL Executive Committee, the DFL Feminist Caucus Board, and Stonewall DFL.[3]

Minneapolis, Minnesota, held a general election for mayor, all 13 seats on the city council, both elected members of the board of estimate and taxation, and all nine members of the park and recreation board on November 7, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was August 15, 2017.

Incumbents ran for re-election to all but two of the city council seats. Ward 3 Councilman Jacob Frey filed to run for mayor instead, and Ward 8 Councilwoman Elizabeth Glidden opted not to run for re-election.[4] Incumbent Carol Becker and incumbent David Wheeler defeated write-in candidate John Edwards in the general election for the two elected at-large seats on the Minneapolis Board of Estimate and Taxation.[5]
