The seat was vacant following Ann M. Howe's (R) resignation on February 5, 2015, citing increased demands in her personal and professional life.[9]

2014
Elections for the New Hampshire House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on September 9, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 13, 2014. Four candidates were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while five candidates faced off in the Republican primary.[10] The general election was contested by four Democrats and four Republicans. The Democrats were Peter D. Coffin, Christopher J. Cox, Carol Croteau, and Karen Fronterotta. The Republicans participants were Joe Guthrie, Ann M. Howe, David Welch, and incumbent Ken Weyler. All four Republicans were victorious over the Democrats in the general election.[11]

Croteau ran in the 2012 election for New Hampshire State Senate, District 23. Croteau ran unopposed in the September 11th Democratic primary election and was defeated by incumbent Russell Prescott (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[12][13]
2010
Croteau failed to advance past the November 2, 2010, general election.
Croteau advanced past the September 14 primary election. She faced incumbent Melissa Lyons (D), incumbent Norman Major (R), incumbent Ken Weyler (R), incumbent David Welch (R), incumbent John Sedensky (R), Jeffrey Oligny (R), Marie Sapienza (R), and Regina Birdsell (R) in the November 2 general election.
