Carol Los Mansmann (1942-2002) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mansmann died on March 9, 2002.

Early life and education

Carol Mansmann received her bachelor's degree from Duquesne University in 1964 and her Juris Doctor in 1967 from the same institution.

Judicial nominations and appointments

Third Circuit

Mansmann was nominated to the Third Circuit by President Ronald Reagan on March 7, 1985, to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333; she was confirmed by the Senate on April 3, 1985, and received commission the next day. She served the Third Circuit until her death on March 9, 2002.[1]

Western District of Pennsylvania

Mansmann was nominated to the Western District of Pennsylvania by President Ronald Reagan on February 23, 1982, to a seat vacated by William Knox; she was confirmed by the Senate on March 18, 1982, and received commission the next day. She served the Western District of Pennsylvania until her April 22, 1985, appointment to the Third Circuit. Mansmann was succeeded in this position by Brooks Smith.
