Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Florida

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Felony charges, criminal complaint (2024-2025)

On August 29, 2024, Rep. Amesty was charged with felony counts of forgery, uttering a forgery, false acknowledgement or certification by a Notary Public, and notarizing your own signature. The charges are in relation to activities during her time serving as an administrator at Central Christian Academy, a private christian school in Florida operated by her family. [4]

“This prosecution, initiated just a few weeks prior to absentee ballots being dropped, is based on misleading reports from a partisan newspaper about a notarization of an employee verification background report,” Rep. Amesty’s campaign said on X in response to the charges. “Rep. Amesty calls for a speedy trial, looks forward to her day in court, and is confident of her public vindication.” [5]

On January 17, 2025, the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced a criminal complaint filed against Amesty. She was charged with two counts of theft of government property related to COVID relief fraud. Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. [6]

In July 2025, the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida informed Amesty's attorney that she would not be indicted and that the federal government had concluded its criminal investigation related to COVID relief fraud.

“On July 28, 2025, counsel for Ms. Amesty learned that the government had ceased its criminal investigation related to grand jury proceedings it referenced in its July 11 filing and withdrew its outstanding subpoenas. We understand that the government no longer plans to seek an indictment,” wrote Amesty's attorney, Brad Bondi.[7]
