Carollyn Taylor is an experienced Democratic organizer, campaign manager, risk manager in insurance, and political activist who was raised in a military family in the Florida panhandle.
She decided to run for FL State House after being on the voter protection team for the U.S. Senate runoff in rural Georgia in the weeks surrounding the January 6 insurrection.
Carollyn is an advocate for our military and veterans, protecting Florida’s environment, and providing equal access to quality, affordable healthcare for all.
She lives with her wife, Kate Kasten, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, their golden retriever Liberty Belle, and cats Leo & Ricky in Pensacola, Florida.
As a Pensacola local and Tate High School Alumni who completed agricultural science, Carollyn has a passion for the environment. Hardening our structures in our community to stand the threat of increased hurricane and weather activity will be a priority for Taylor if elected to office.
Making sure our beaches are protected and preserved for generations to come, while protecting our wildlife continues to inspire Taylor to fight for our area.
Taylor also believes that Floridians sgould not be strapped with rising energy prices and high costs of living. Taylor will be conscious on being the peoples voice and staying out of the pockets of monopolies like FP&L.
Carollyn looks up to Senator Elizabeth Warren. She likes Warren’s campaign chant of “Dream Big, Fight Hard” so much that Taylor commissioned the phrase in her porch by an artist of the Pensacola Graffiti Bridge.
Taylor believes following the example of a strong woman from Oklahoma running for office, is an inspiration to women and girls everywhere.
While working for Senator Warren during her persistential run, Carollyn felt empowered by the liberty green Campaign color and the pinky promises Warren made with hundreds of girls across re country stating: “Promise me you’ll remember girls can run for President, because that’s what girls do.”
Honesty and integrity. Carollyn’s father always taught her that “the only thing a man or woman has in this world is their word, and without that, they have nothing.”

Carollyn would like to leave a legacy of diverse, open minded, politicians able to be elected in the Florida Panhandle. She continues to work with voters and often uses the phrase “country before party.”
Taylor believes in a Northwest Florida that chooses politicians based in character and community service— not by the name of their party.
9/11 was the first major historical event Carollyn remembers. Taylor was a third grader at A.K. Suter elementary at the time.
Taylor’s teacher, Mrs. Fields, allowed her students to watch the news until Taylor’s parents withdrew her and her sister from class.
It was a somber day in history, but it taught Taylor even then the need for solid representation that cares deeply about the safety and security of our country.
Carollyn’s first job was at Shoe Station off of Davis Hwy in Pensacola. She worked here for most of her sophomore year in high school and learned a lot about organizing shoes, shoe types, and how to help customers find the perfect fit.
Taylor’s most memorable moment from this job was receiving a 2 dollar bill from a satasfied customer, which she still has today.
Facing the ever changing weather and climate crisis. We must address this and find sustainable, long term, solutions. Places like Miami, marine life, and our coastal shores cannot handle the stress of inaction.
It’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators so you can work in the same room.
However, often times, when watching Florida TV, these relationships don’t translate well across the aisle during legislative session which deeply concerns me.
When bills are being passed on a straight partisan basis, it leaves room for corruption and inequality.
Wedgewood. Justice for Wedgewood’s environmental crisis would be great. A woman who has now passed from extensive health issues shared stories of a 4 year old with COPD. Heartbreaking injustice for this environmental racism that has occured.
Yes. Compromise can be difficult, especially with opposing views, but often times it’s necessary to get the job done. However, with matters concerning Floridians health and the right to achieve true life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, officials should stand firm on the side of the people, and not shady back door deals by politicians that are only self serving.

Carollyn believes in freedom of clean, affordable, energy. The incumbent co-sponsored a bill to take away net metering for solar users that was ultimately vetoed by Governor Ron DeSantis. Even the Governor recognized that this bill is was bad for Floridians and bad for business. In a place like the sunshine state, Floridians shouldn’t have to choose between food and the table and affordable energy. Monopolized greed has emboldened companies like FP&L to take money off the table of hardworking, honest, Floridians. Carollyn believes it’s time to elect a representative who represents the people, and stay out of the pockets of big corporations.
Carollyn has a background in insurance and currently works in the cannabis industry in Florida. She’s an advocate for legalizing and decriminalizing marijuana while ensuring that Floridians can have access to their medication without breaking the bank or fear of retribution. Currently, there are new rules and regulations that have been implemented that restrict and limit the amount of flower a patient can buy. We should be worried less about regulating the plant itself, which is in it’s purest, natural form, and more concerned about the chemicals found in other substances like Delta 8 which has now been federally legalized. Carollyn also believes that people purchasing a firearm should be an equal right to medicinal patients.
As a former insurance representative and risk manager, Carollyn is aware of the rising housing costs and skyrocketing insurance rates. Carollyn is committed to finding solutions to help every day Floridians make it from day to day. Every Floridian deserves a chance at life, liberty, and happiness, the cost of living is leaving families strapped. Carollyn will be an advocate for fair wages, affordable housing, and access to affordable healthcare.
