The city of Corpus Christi, Texas, held elections for mayor and city council on November 8, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was August 22, 2016. All eight city council seats were up for election.[2] Incumbent Carolyn Vaughn defeated Ryan Schroeder in the Corpus Christi City Council District 1 general election.[3]

2014
The city of Corpus Christi, Texas held elections for city council on November 4, 2014. The candidate filing deadline was August 18, 2014. Eight council seats - three at-large and districts one through five - were up for election. In District 1, the candidates were Carolyn Vaughn, incumbent Kelley Allen, Carrie Robertson Meyer, John Garcia, Frank F. Schlegel and Tom Watson. Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the general election, the top two vote-getters - Vaughn and Allen - faced each other in a runoff election on December 16, 2014.[4] Vaughn was the winner.[5]
