Carrie Cox (Nevada)
Carrie Cox is a member of the Henderson City Council in Nevada, representing Ward III. She assumed office on January 3, 2023. Her current term ends on January 5, 2027.
Cox is running for re-election to the Henderson City Council to represent Ward III in Nevada. She is on the ballot in the primary on June 9, 2026.[source]
Although city council elections in Henderson are officially nonpartisan, Cox was listed by the Clark County Republican Party as a Republican candidate in 2017.[1]
Biography
Carrie Cox attended Brigham Young University online as an elementary education major. Her professional experience includes working as a kindergarten teacher with Pinecrest Academy of Nevada - Sloan Canyon, owning the restaurant Fred's Sports Grill and the learning and childcare business Care Bears Learning and Childcare, in early childhood development and elementary education, as a paralegal, and as the assistant director of the nonprofit organization Talent Team. Cox was appointed to the Henderson Blue Ribbon Commission on Educational Excellence and the Clark County Community Development Advisory Committee and as of May 2022, serves on the commissions. She has served with Women's Impact Network and the Women's Community Leadership Network.[2][3][4][5]

2017
The city of Henderson, Nevada, held a primary election for mayor and city council on April 4, 2017. A general election was scheduled for June 13, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was February 2, 2017.
Incumbent Mayor Andy A. Hafen was not eligible to run for re-election due to term limits. The race for the Ward III seat on the city council advanced to the general election.[6] Incumbent John F. Marz defeated Carrie Cox in the general election for the Ward III seat on the Henderson City Council.[7]

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Cox's 2017 campaign priorities were: "Public safety; economic growth and land use; education and building more schools."[9] Her other priorities include infrastructure and transparency in government.[2]
