Carrie Lundell is a small business owner and mother of four children who attend our public schools in Orange Unified School District. Since she and her family planted roots in the City of Orange 13 years ago, Carrie has been a tireless advocate for our students and public schools. She has spent countless hours in OUSD elementary, middle, and high schools volunteering as PTA and PTO president, art teacher, sports booster, school site council member, and run club coach. At the district level she has been part of a curriculum review committee and has been attending board meetings regularly for the last year to stay updated on issues that are important to the community.
  • Student Success - I will work to ensure students have access to safe schools, equitable educational opportunities, innovative learning environments, rigorous academics, career and technical education, and better mental health services.
  • Community Investment - As an advocate for public education, I will focus on effectively communicating with the community and creating partnerships with local organizations to provide needed resources to our students, teachers, and staff.
  • Fiscal Responsibility - I will make sure our precious tax dollars and Measure S funds are spent responsibly, transparently, and in ways that serve the best interest of our students.
Public school boards should be led by people experienced in and passionate about public education. My husband and I chose to send our four children to public school, and for more than a decade, I have dedicated myself to the betterment of our OUSD schools. My daily experience in our local public schools provides me a "boots on the ground" view of the strengths and challenges OUSD faces.

As the OUSD School Board Member for Trustee Area 6, I will use my passion for public schools and my dedication to the community to ensure each student is able to reach their full potential. I will work to provide all OUSD schools the necessary resources so that every student, family, and community member can feel as proud of their neighborhood public school as I do.

As a successful small business owner, I know the importance of fiscal responsibility and will ensure our tax dollars are dedicated to the needs of our students and not to private or special interest groups. As taxpayers, we deserve to have successful and desirable schools in every neighborhood.

As we work to permanently return our kids to the classroom, we must address their emotional and physical health, the lost learning and friendship opportunities, and the growing educational gaps that have been exacerbated by a global health crisis. As your board member, these concerns will inform the decisions I make for our children.
I will bring what I have learned as a small-business owner to the Orange Unified School Board. We built our business on what I like to call the "three c's" community, collaboration, and creativity. Investing in our local community yields countless benefits, collaborating with others leverages our strengths, and creativity is the ultimate problem solver. OUSD needs leadership committed to building community trust and community investment. OUSD needs leadership that is committed to collaborating without partisanship. OUSD needs leadership that is committed to finding creative solutions in our ever-changing circumstances.
Public school boards should be led by people experienced in and passionate about the success of public education. As a board member I am committed to being engaged and educated on each issue that comes before the board because I believe in public education and take the responsibility of the school board to provide quality education to all students very seriously.
I would like to empower more students and families to advocate for their education. I think there are some parents and community members that are used to speaking up and are used to being heard, but I do not think those voices are a true representation of the diverse experiences in OUSD and I will make sure more students, parents and community members feel heard as decisions are being made that affect them. For me, this means visiting all of our OUSD schools and reaching out to community members, meeting them wherever they are.
I think it's important for school board members to develop great working relationships with local organizations, city councils, state, and federal representative so we can leverage our resources to work towards our common goal of serving our communities.
As an OUSD parent, I believe we need improved communication between the district and parents/community. With better communication and transparency, we can build community trust and investment in our schools. With more outreach to our diverse communities, we can make every family feel like they are needed and vital part of our education system.
