2016

Ruud's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Job Creation

  • By developing a strong business climate and an educated workforce we will attract new companies and allow existing business to grow here in Aitkin and Crow Wing Counties. Central Lakes College and the Bridges Academy are a great example of business and education working together for success.

Pro Life

  • We need to protect human life from conception until natural death.

Military Veterans

  • Standing up for veterans is something my family has instilled in me, and I am proud and honored to do so. My parents were both WWII veterans. My dad served in the Army with Patton. My mom in the Red Cross in the European theater. My husband served in the Air Force. My brother is a retired Army Colonel.

Tourism

  • Tourism accounts for over 10% of all jobs in our state. We need to make sure the State of Minnesota continues to understand how vital this is to our economy. I support Explore Minnesota and the Minnesota Tourism Council and their accomplishments in our state.

Environment and Natural Resources

  • With 300+ lakes and well over 100 miles of the Mighty Mississippi in Senate District 10, making sure we take good care of our environment is essential. Agriculture, hunting and fishing are vitally important to our economy.[7]
—Carrie Ruud[8]

2012

Ruud's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[9]

  • Excerpt: "Incentivise new economic opportunity by lowering taxes on hardworking small businesses that create new jobs for Minnesota workers."
  • Excerpt: "Repeal the 30% Statewide Business Tax enabling local businesses to allocate more money to new job creation in Minnesota."
  • Excerpt: "Build a business friendly environment to make Minnesota more attractive to companies and industries to relocate to our communities."
  • Excerpt: "By creating a strong business climate, we will allow existing business to grow and expand here in Minnesota."
  • Excerpt: "As a small business owner I have learned to live within my means, to make difficult decisions, to be creative and innovative. We should ask nothing less from our government."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Minnesota

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
