One seat on the Carroll County Schools Board of Education in Georgia was up for by-district special election on March 21, 2017. The special election was called to complete Denise Askin's unexpired term after she resigned from her District 4 seat in October 2016 to focus on her career. Her term was set to end in 2020.[1] Carol Turner Beckham, Clayton Kierbow, and Jessie Strickland filed for election. When no candidate received a majority of the vote during the general election, a runoff election was held on April 18, 2017. Turner Beckham did not advance.[2] Kierbow defeated Strickland by one vote to win a first term on the board.[3]
