Georgia: Two new misconduct charges have been filed against Amanda F. Williams, Chief Judge of the Brunswick Judicial Circuit. Williams has been under investigation by the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission (GJQC) for over one year, and last month had formal charges filed against her. After charges were filed on November 9, Judge Williams was given a thirty day window to respond. Since two new charges were filed, she is now allowed a "reasonable amount of time" to respond.[1]

The charges allege that Williams violated a variety of actions banned under the judicial canon. The newest charges involve the judge's choice of counsel during this matter and overall violation of the oath of office. For more detail on the charges filed, visit: Amanda William's profile page.

A hearing is expected to begin in January, with former Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court Leah Ward Sears representing the GJQC.[1]
