My first degree is in finance, and I worked in the private sector for about 15 years. Wanting to make a greater impact, I went back to school, earned a second degree in physics and became a certified teacher in math and science. Now work hard to help students become career and college ready, while improving math and science literacy. Leaving a higher paying career to become a teacher and now running for office is motivated by my commitment to try and make our community better now and for the next generation. As a teacher, I promise to always do my homework! I will thoroughly research, analyze, and consider alternatives for every vote and decision. As a former business owner, having worked for and founded start-ups that needed to maximize every dollar. I will be responsible with our tax dollars. I’ll bring that same fiscal responsibility to the council, finding practical and creative solutions to save money while improving services.
Together, we can build a Sun Prairie that works for everyone!- Communication and a Voice for District 1
As your Alderperson, I will prioritize open communication and strong representation for District 1. My goal is to ensure that every resident feels heard, valued, and empowered. Here’s how I’ll do it: -Accessibility: I'm sharing my cell phone number (608.982.5440) with all District 1 residents. Let's talk! -Open Office Hours: I’ll hold regular office hours for you to share your ideas and priorities. -Town Halls and Listening Sessions: I’ll host town halls to hear directly from residents about their concerns and ideas. -Local Advocacy: to address specific local concerns.
-Responsiveness: I’ll commit to responding to all resident inquiries within 48 hours. - Supporting Education: Building a Brighter Future As a parent and teacher, education is very important to me. I’ll advocate for high-quality, equitable, and inclusive schools where every student feels safe and supported. Let’s expand mental health resources, partner with local employers for hands-on training, and prepare students for high-demand careers. I’ll also push for increased state funding to reduce reliance on local property taxes. Education is the foundation of a thriving community—by investing in our schools, we’re building a stronger Sun Prairie for everyone.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Smart Spending for a Stronger Sun Prairie I’ll maximize every tax dollar by eliminating waste, pursuing grants, and investing in long-term savings like energy-efficient infrastructure. I support transparent budgeting, zero-based budgeting, and cost-sharing with neighboring communities to reduce costs while improving services. Let’s ensure our tax dollars work harder for District 1!
I’m deeply passionate about education. I believe every child deserves access to high-quality, equitable, and inclusive schools that prepare them for college, careers, and life. I’m also committed to fiscal responsibility, ensuring our tax dollars are spent wisely to improve services without overburdening residents. Additionally, I care about sustainable development—balancing growth with preserving green spaces and protecting our environment. Finally, I’m dedicated to community safety, which includes addressing speeding - especially in residential areas.
Lincoln’s ability to listen, empathize, and unite people with different perspectives resonates deeply with me. In Sun Prairie, I believe we can achieve great things by focusing on what brings us together, not what divides us.
Integrity is non-negotiable. An elected official must be transparent, honest, and accountable, always putting the needs of the community above personal or political gain. They should be accessible and responsive, making themselves available to residents and ensuring that every voice is heard, especially those often marginalized or overlooked.
A strong leader also knows how to build coalitions. Progress doesn’t happen in isolation—it requires bringing people together, finding common ground, and working collaboratively to achieve shared goals. Whether it’s partnering with local organizations, advocating for state and federal resources, or engaging directly with residents, an elected official must be a unifier who can turn ideas into action.
Finally, an elected official must be forward-thinking. They should have the courage to tackle long-term challenges while also addressing the immediate needs of their community. This means investing in sustainable infrastructure, expanding access to mental health resources, and ensuring that every child is empowered to succeed.
That experience taught me the importance of staying informed, understanding the interconnectedness of our world, and working together to build a safer, more compassionate society.
Right now, I’m re-reading the series in Chinese to challenge my language skills and gain an even deeper appreciation for the story. It’s a reminder of how literature can bridge cultures, expand our horizons, and inspire us to think beyond our own experiences.
