- Wildfire Protection - EBRPD must continue to pioneer efforts to reduce wildfire risk, through continued vegetation management / fuels reduction, innovations like the Carbonizer, partnerships with local agencies and our neighboring jurisdictions, and more. We must continue to close parks during red flag days. Our fire plans must evolve as our risk factors and climate are changing.
- Climate Resilience - Help lead the way for more innovative and resilient policies related to stewardship, restoration, and park management. How can our parks be better protected from climate change? How are we planning for the climate of the future? How can we enhance carbon sequestration and reduction of greenhouse gasses in our parks, through stewardship of our natural infrastructure? These are a few of my framing questions.
- Expanding Equity and Access - supporting the work EBRPD naturalists do to provide educational programming to low income students, expanding partnerships with public health agencies regarding “Park Prescriptions” and programs with low income clinics, connecting youth mental health programs. Specific components include ensuring effective engagement with the Second Century Plan and working with the DEI and Cultural Resources offices on creating a policy around tribal relations and programming.
