Charles M. Viser (also known as Casey) is a judge for Special judge of the North Carolina 5th Superior Court Division. He assumed office in 2016.
Viser (Republican Party) ran for election for the Judicial District 26A judge of the North Carolina 5th Superior Court Division. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Gov. Pat McCrory (R) appointed Viser to be a special judge in 2015.[1]
The North Carolina Superior Courts are split into five divisions and 48 districts. Superior court judges rotate among the districts within their division every six months.[2] However, superior court judges are elected by voters in their district and must reside in the district in which they are elected.[3]
Prior to serving on the Superior Court, Viser served as a district court judge for the 26th Judicial District. He was appointed to the court by Governor Pat McCrory (R) in July 2013 to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Lisa C. Bell to the North Carolina Superior Courts.[4] Viser was defeated in his bid for election to the 26th Judicial District in 2014.[5]
