- Our Founding Fathers said "government was for the people, by the people, and of the people", that is a message that no longer works if the people are no longer involved in their government. For a long time, we have been told that "you don't need to worry, the government will take care of you.", this has not worked for a long time. I want to boost community involvement with their elected officials and bring back government accountability & transparency. This means working to end closed sessions, inviting community members to join our work sessions, & making regular updates on social media about the decisions the county board of commissioners makes.
- Cabarrus County is the 6th most expensive county in North Carolina with 28% of residents considered cost-burdened, meaning they spend more than 30% of their income on housing. Our budget & taxes are out of control, I will work to balance the county budget & reduce taxes on our residents by working with my fellow commissioners to cut tax breaks to businesses, slow growth to more manageable levels, consolidate wasteful spending & redundancies, cut funding to underperforming county-funded programs, & redirect funding to more efficient programs.
- As this county continues to grow, we need to work with our county's municipalities & state officials to slow our growth to a more manageable pace until our roads, schools, sewer, & other key infrastructure are upgraded to handle anticipated growth. Forced growth means higher taxes & lower quality of living, we must work towards building for anticipated growth before we are crushed by a population size our infrastructure cannot handle if we want Cabarrus County to continue thriving & become the greatest county in the nation.
