Cassandra Aucoin was raised in a military family, living in places from California to New York and overseas in France before moving to Northern Virginia in the 1970s. She earned a B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Tech. Aucoin spent more than 35 years as a federal employee with the U.S. Department of Defense, where she managed and led initiatives in multi-billion-dollar budgeting, human resources, organizational planning, and program management.

As a military spouse and family advocate, Aucoin helped establish several military spouse organizations and served as a senior advisor on boards supporting military spouses and families, including work with the Japanese-American Wives Association during her husband’s two tours in Japan. She also lived in Washington State with her husband and children and has traveled widely across South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

In Virginia, Aucoin holds leadership roles in civic and party organizations. In 2023, she was a candidate for the Fairfax County School Board, At-Large. Aucoin lives in Reston with her husband, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, and is the mother of two children.
  • Affordability & Economy: Fairfax County has become unaffordable for too many families, young adults, and seniors. I’ll work to lower taxes, end taxes on tips, reduce tolls and energy costs, grow our economy, advocate for energy alternatives, support small businesses, and protect Virginia’s Right-to-Work law. I’ll also address community health challenges like the rise of Lyme disease — which drives up healthcare costs, strains family budgets, and undermines the quality of life of many Virginians
  • Public Safety and Protection: Keep families and small businesses safe by backing law enforcement and qualified immunity; cracking down on fentanyl and sex trafficking; advancing community safety measures; repealing policies that release violent offenders; and opposing a Tysons casino. I will also defend fairness in girls’ sports, ensuring that young women have safe environments and opportunities to succeed.
  • Education Excellence: Every child deserves a great K–12 education, in a safe environment, without politics. Fairfax County’s K–12 spending keeps rising without matching gains in results. I’ll strengthen public school accountability, advocate for higher achievement, and expand education alternatives for families. I will support parents and advocate for better safety measures at our public schools.
Tax and highway toll reform, energy alternatives, public health issues like Lyme Disease and mental illness, qualified immunity for law enforcement, crime prevention and penalties, business reforms to promote growth, fairness in girls' sports, Virginia’s Right-to-Work law; fiscal and academic and fiscal oversight of public school systems; K-12 education alternatives.
I look up to my parents for instilling in me the values of hard work, service, and integrity. They always put family and community first.
Integrity, accountability, and service. Voters deserve representatives who tell the truth, do their homework, spend taxpayer dollars wisely, and put community needs ahead of party politics. I also value transparency, civility and a results-first mindset.
Listen to constituents; write and vote on laws that improve their lives. This includes safety, affordability, and opportunity; providing strong oversight of tax dollars and state agencies; and delivering responsive constituent services. The job is equal parts policymaking and problem-solving.
I hope people will remember me as someone who listened, worked hard, and was committed to getting results.
I remember the images of people fleeing Vietnam at the end of the war. My father served there, and as a child I could see how deeply it affected him. It left me with a strong appreciation for the sacrifices of our military and for the freedom that so many risk everything to find.
I babysat in my neighborhood for a few years as a teenager. It was my first lesson in responsibility and trust—and it gave me patience that has served me well in both family and professional life.
My favorite book is Margaret Thatcher: The Autobiography because it highlights her courage to lead with conviction during difficult times, even when her choices were unpopular. As the first woman Prime Minister, she broke barriers while advancing free enterprise and strong economic policies. Her story resonates with my own values of principled leadership, service, and putting the mission and community before politics.
I’d choose Jo March from Little Women because she represents resilience, independence, and dedication to family and community — qualities I’ve carried as a military spouse, in my career of service, and as a mother.
Balancing a demanding career with being a military spouse and mom wasn’t always easy, but it made me resilient and gave me a deep appreciation for the challenges families face every day.
Collaborative, respectful, and results-driven. We should debate honestly, negotiate in good faith, and work toward practical solutions—that have positive impact on Virginia communities.
Keeping Virginia affordable, recruiting and retaining law-enforcement officers, confronting human trafficking, improving K–12 outcomes and public school accountability, energy alternatives, and ensuring our economy remains competitive and continues to grow while protecting Right to Work.
Experience can help—but it’s not sufficient. What matters most is character, competence, and a willingness to listen and learn. I bring decades of executive experience in strategic planning, multi-billion-dollar budgeting, HR, and organizational transformation—skills that translate directly to effective, accountable governance.
Absolutely. Policies that have positive impact on the community and for Virginia takes teamwork. Strong relationships—across both chambers and both parties—turn ideas into law, strengthen oversight, and deliver real results. Respectful collaboration keeps debates productive and outcomes stronger.
I admire former Delegate—and now Lt. Governor—Winsome Sears for her candor, focus on opportunity and education excellence, and commitment to service. I share her belief that we can be both principled and pragmatic in delivering results for Virginians - positive commonsense outcomes that all Virginians can benefit from.
My focus is 100% on serving the people of House District 7 and Fairfax County. If I earn that trust, my goal is to do this job well.
I recently spoke with a Fairfax County officer who loves serving here but is weighing whether he can afford to stay because of pay, benefits, and staffing pressures. His commitment—and concern—underscores why we must support recruitment and retention of law enforcement and other first responders, so our communities remain safe and why we must make our communities more affordable to live in.
I support the current roles of the Governor and Virginia Assembly with respect to the use of emergency powers. The Governor must have the ability to take decisive action in an emergency and under Virginia law, those orders expire after 45 days unless extended by the General Assembly. The Governor must be able to retain his/her authority, and the legislature must retain the authority to amend, narrow, or end emergency orders.
Affordability and Fairness Act - To provide meaningful relief to Virginia residents by addressing the high cost of tolls, reforming unfair vehicle taxes, and ensuring that families and workers keep more of their hard-earned money. Second bill: Fairness in Girls Sport Act - To ensure fairness, opportunity, and safety for female student-athletes by requiring that participation in girls’ sports be based on biological sex, while preserving opportunities for all students to participate in co-ed or intramural activities.
The Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares
Virginia Police Benevolent Association
I believe Virginians are better served through our representative system—where ideas are fully debated, fiscally reviewed, and carefully vetted before becoming law.
One voter told me about working two jobs just to afford rent in Fairfax County. Their story reinforced why affordability has to be front and center in my campaign—because families should be able to thrive, not just get by.
My proudest accomplishment has been raising two children who have grown into thriving, productive citizens, while balancing the demands of a career and life as a military spouse both here and overseas. It wasn’t always easy, but it taught me resilience, gratitude, and the true importance of family.
I would introduce legislation to shorten Virginia’s 45-day early voting period to a more reasonable window and to close gaps where non-uniformity still exists — for example, how quickly voters are notified of errors on absentee ballots, the number and availability of ballot drop boxes, and the handling of chain-of-custody procedures. My proposal would establish consistent standards, so every Virginian has the same access, clarity, and confidence in the process. I would include routine maintenance of voter rolls and emphasize photo ID. I would also require at least one general election debate between gubernatorial candidates, ensuring voters can hear directly from those seeking to lead our Commonwealth. Finally, I would support term limits for Virginia Assembly members to ensure fresh perspectives, accountability, and leadership that puts community first.

I grew up in a military family and lived in nine places before coming to Northern Virginia as a high school senior. My parents moved to Fairfax County because of the excellent reputation of its public school system. I graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Business Management.

My husband and I have two raised two children who attended Fairfax County Public Schools. As a military family, we were stationed in Japan, Washington State, and we traveled abroad extensively. Over the years, my children also attended Department of Defense, parochial, and private schools, so I am familiar with a variety of school systems. As a military spouse, I volunteered with family support organizations, was a senior advisor for military spouse organizations, and led the establishment of two spouse organizations.

My professional career at the Department of Defense spanned over 35 years. I have vast experience in areas of strategic planning, budgeting, human resources, program analysis, and organizational change. I managed a multi-billion-dollar budget and led complex projects to transform organizations. In my last position as a Chief of Staff, I led the business operations of a 1000+ person global organization.

  • Restore Academic Excellence. Every child deserves a high-quality education in a safe learning environment, free of politics. Students should be instructed in a solid core of academic pursuits, reading, math, and other functional skills with added concentration on U.S. History, civics, and science. Academic achievement should be encouraged and rewarded. I will work to raise academic standards, promote the instruction of core skills and knowledge, restore recognition based on merit, recruit and retain the best teachers, and enhance school safety measures.
  • Rebuild Partnerships with Parents. Parents are the governors of their children’s upbringing and education, and together with teachers, are critical to academic success. I will work to empower and encourage parents to be involved in all aspects of their children’s education and promote positive parent-school engagement.
  • Restore Balance, Transparency, & Accountability. Diversity of thought is paramount in academic environments, and I want to bring a fresh perspective to the School Board. I will promote transparency for parents, teachers, and the community. I will work to restore accountability to the taxpayer. Spending should be focused on the classroom and not on increased bureaucracy.
Fairfax County Public School System (FCPS) is the largest school district in Virginia (@180K students), and receives over 50% of Fairfax County's annual budget in support. I want to research the factors that contribute to the schools that consistently underperform, the decline in education achievement and special education issues in FCPS despite the fact the annual school budget has increased by hundreds of millions of dollars over the past decade and is now $3.5 billion dollars. The examination would include an assessment of parental engagement levels, engagement barriers and teacher recruitment and retention issues. It will also look at the programs which are working well and are not working well. I will work to find innovative solutions to reverse these trends and the resources to help resolve. Public education is vital to our society; a top-notch educational system ensures that high school graduates are well-prepared for success in a career path or for higher education, which in turn spurs local economic development and enhances the desirability of our community.
Integrity, action, responsiveness, accountability, and approachable.
I worked at a Hardees in Fayetteville, NC
Responsible for ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education.
Students, Parents, Teachers, and Fairfax County community members.
As a at-large School Board (SB) member, I will work to build relationships with parents (e.g., PTAs), teachers, schools and administrations, and organizations within the community to include associations (non-profits, e.g.), business, religious, and culturally diverse organizations, and other educational institutions. The success of public education needs the input and continued support from all of these stakeholders. I will also promote strengthening and improving the SB process to include having more parent and community input time before decisions are made and resolutions adopted, better transparency on the decisions made and responsiveness to concerns once the decisions are made. I will also will work to restore academics as the priority of a SB meeting -- and have those discussions brought to the forefront of the agenda vs. waiting 2 hours, after parents and the community audience have left.
