Recall reports

An effort to recall the five board members of the Cataldo Water District in Shoshone County, Idaho – Lisa Eaton, Ed Hanson, Cathleen House, Daniel Peterson, and Daniel Waldo – began in 2022. The recall petitions were approved by the Shoshone County Clerk in December 2022. Subsequently, all five board members resigned effective December 30, 2022.[1]

Replacement board members were appointed by emergency judicial order on February 14, 2023.[2]

Recall supporters

Supporters of the recall criticized the board for increases in customers' water bills from $25 a month to $48 a month. They also criticized the increase in the water district's budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.[1]

Recall opponents

In response to concerns over an increase in customers' water bills, the district board cited increases in supply costs and the expenses of maintenance and rent on the district's offices.[1]
