Catherine Cholakis

Catherine "Kiki" Cholakis is a judge for the Rensselaer County Family Court in New York.[1] She was elected to this position in 2003 and her current term expires in 2022.[2] She also serves as an acting justice of the Rensselaer County Supreme Court.[3]

Cholakis defeated Amy H. O'Connor in the general election for the Rensselaer County Family Court on November 6, winning 55.87 percent of the vote.[4][5]

Cholakis ran in the November 8 election for one of two open seats on the New York Supreme Court 3rd Judicial District (Rensselaer County, where she currently serves as acting justice). According to unofficial election results from the next day, she was narrowly defeated by Raymond J. Elliott, III, trailing him by 76 votes and receiving 25.56 percent of the total vote. She ran on the Republican and Conservative party lines.[6][7][8][9]
Education
Cholakis attended Ithaca College for her B.S. in 1985 and Albany Law School for her J.D. in 1989.[2][10]
Career
Prior to her position on the Rensselaer County Family Court, Cholakis served as town justice for East Greenbush. She was elected to the position in 1995 and re-elected twice to the two-year position.[2]
