Catherine Frazier is a Republican communications consultant. As of May 2017, she was a senior communications advisor for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). Frazier was the national press secretary for Ted Cruz's 2016 presidential campaign and worked for former Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) as a press assistant, senior communications writer, deputy communications director, and press secretary.

Career

Early career

Catherine Frazier graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in government and a B.S. in public relations in 2006. While in college, she interned for Texas state Representative Sid Miller (R) and at Fleishman-Hillard, a public relations firm.[1]

Rick Perry communications office

In early 2007, Frazier began working in the office of then-Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) as a scheduler. Within three months she had become Perry's press assistant and, in 2008, had risen to senior writer within Perry's communications division. In 2009, she began working as the deputy press secretary for the super PAC Texans for Rick Perry during his 2010 gubernatorial campaign.[2] From 2012 to 2013, Frazier served as Perry's press secretary.[3] She was also part of Perry's 2012 presidential campaign.[4]

Ted Cruz advisor

In early 2013, Frazier moved over to Cruz's Senate office in Washington, D.C., as Cruz's press secretary.[4]

In March 2015, Catherine Frazier transitioned into the position of national press secretary for Ted Cruz's 2016 presidential campaign having worked for him since 2013.[5] As press secretary, Frazier was responsible for delivering the campaign's message to media outlets and for handling press access.

Cruz suspended his presidential campaign on May 3, 2016, after losing the Indiana Republican primary to Donald Trump.[6]
