Catherine Stone
Catherine M. Stone was the chief justice on the Texas Fourth District Court of Appeals. Governor Ann Richards appointed her to this position on March 24, 1994. She was then elected to consecutive six-year terms.[1] She retired at the end of her term on December 31, 2014.[2][3]
Education
Justice Stone received her B.A. degree in Foreign Affairs from Assumption College and her J.D. degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1982.[1][4]
Career
Justice Stone began her legal career in 1982 as a briefing attorney for two justices of the Fourth Court of Appeals. In 1983, she began practicing law with the firm Watkins, Mireles, Brock and Barrientos. She worked in this capacity for eight years and then spent three years running her own law practice before she was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1994.[1]
Associations
In 2008, Chief Justice Stone had a fundraising event involving numerous musicians, including Ray Wylie Hubbard. The event was called "Rocking with Stone."[5]
