I am a 21-year resident of Delta Fire Protection District with more than twenty years experience working with multiple local agencies to organize and hold public meetings addressing crime, public safety issues, neighborhood watch, State project impacts, through interagency communication to encourage and support citizen engagement within the District. As a retired journalist with the River News Herald and Isleton Journal I have remained involved with the Delta communities and I am familiar with the issues that affect the citizens here. I am confident in my ability to require proper management of the Delta Fire Protection District and work closely with regional emergency response agencies.
  • It is imperative that Delta Fire Protection District (Delta District) continue to access and offer top level fire service and rescue services to District residents for any and all emergencies occurring within the District as required by a long-standing contract for emergency services.
  • The purpose of the Delta District Board is to ensure services are provided to the citizens of the District who rely on them. In order to be able to engage with their District and to be kept informed of the administration of District activities they require full transparency and notice of all meetings in accordance with the requirements of the Brown Act. This requirement has not been fully honored for the past twenty years. Additionally, an annual audit is required by law. Defects identified by the audit should be cured and not carried forward year after year in order to be in full compliance
  • Delta District experiences frequent vehicle collisions that are often critical and sometimes fatal. In order to maintain an optimum level of safety and an awareness of concerns on our dangerous roadways Delta District citizens rely on informative communications from law enforcement, CalTrans, California Highway Patrol to ensure safe travel.
I believe local, Districts focusing on public safety should be accessible to the citizens that they serve and should operate in a manner that encourages the participation of those being served.
Forthrightness and willingness to engage with those served.
A strong and consistent commitment to public service throughout my adult life.
To be available to those they serve and to keep them informed of activities that may impacted them..
An informed, encouraged and empowered citizenry.
Financial transparency and government accountability are absolutely imperative.
