Cecilia Iglesias earned an associate degree from Santa Ana College, a bachelor's degree from Cal State Fullerton, and a graduate degree from Grand Canyon University. Her career experience includes working as an educator.[1]

Three of the five seats on the Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education were up for at-large general election on November 8, 2016. Incumbent Cecilia Iglesias filed for re-election and faced six challengers: Mark McLoughlin, Beatriz Mendoza, Rigo Rodriguez, Alfonso Alvarez, Bruce Bauer, and Angie Rosario Cano.[2] Iglesias won re-election, and Rodriguez and Alvarez won the other seats on the ballot.[3]

Elections for the California State Assembly took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 3, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Tom Daly (D) and Sherry Walker (R) defeated Cecilia "Ceci" Iglesias (R) in the blanket primary. Daly defeated Walker in the general election.[7][8][9]
