Celeste Wilson is a circuit judge for the Seventeenth Judicial District in Mississippi. She was appointed by Gov. Phil Bryant (R) on February 1, 2017, to fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Bobby Chamberlin to the Mississippi Supreme Court.[1]

Wilson was scheduled to run for election on November 7, 2017, but the DeSoto County Board of Commissioners canceled the election and reappointed her to the seat when no other candidates filed to run against her.[2][3]

Wilson was previously a judge on the DeSoto County Court in Mississippi, serving from 2009 to 2017.[1]

Wilson earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Delta State University and a J.D. from the University of Memphis. Her professional experience includes work as an assistant district attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial District and as the director of membership for the Southaven Chamber of Commerce.[1]

Mississippi scheduled a special election for local judicial offices on November 7, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was May 5, 2017, but candidates weren't officially certified for the ballot until after the close of the general qualifying period on September 8, 2017.[4]

Incumbents filed unopposed for all three races. On October 2, 2017, the DeSoto County Board of Commissioners canceled the Seventeenth District race due to lack of opposition and reappointed Wilson to the seat.[3]
