The Defiance measure sought to renew the current school levy which was set at a rate of $.63 per $100 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to continue to pay for emergency operational costs in the district.[1]

Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
Defiance Measure: Shall a levy renewing an existing levy be imposed by the Defiance City School District, Defiance and Paulding Counties, Ohio, for the purpose of providing for the emergency requirements of the School District in the sum of one million five hundred eighty thousand dollars ($1,580,000) and a levy of taxes to be made outside of the ten-mill limitation estimated by the county auditor to average six and thirty-eight hundredths (6.38) mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to sixty-three and eight-tenths cents ($0.638) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for a period of five (5) years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013?[4][5] |
