This measure sought to replace the current fire levy with one set at a rate of $.47 per $100 of assessed property value for a period of five years in order to further pay for maintenance and operations costs in the fire district area.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

A replacement of a tax for the benefit of the Central Townships Joint Fire District for the purpose of PROVIDING PROTECTION AGAINST FIRE, PROVIDING AND MAINTAINING FIRE APPARATUS AND APPLIANCES, BUILDINGS AND SITES FOR APPARATUS AND APPLIANCES, SOURCES OF WATER SUPPLY, MATERIALS FOR SUCH WATER SUPPLY, LINES OF FIRE-ALARM TELEGRAPH, AND THE PAYMENT OF PERMANENT, PART-TIME, OR VOLUNTEER FIRE-FIGHTING COMPANIES TO OPERATE SUCH EQUIPMENT at a rate not exceeding four and seventy-five hundredths (4.75) mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to forty-seven and one-half cents ($0.475) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five (5) years, commencing in 2012 first due in calendar year 2013.[3]
