Hammill ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico State Senate District 32. He was defeated by Cliff R. Pirtle in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. Incumbent Timothy Z. Jennings (D) ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
