Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

I'm a retired Air Force officer from Kentwood LA. I enlisted in the Louisiana Air National Guard in 1986 and earned my commission through the LSU Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program in 1992.

Over my long career, I progressed from Airman Basic to the rank of Colonel, and held a wide variety of leadership positions at local, regional, and national levels of Air Force Financial Management. From 2009 to 2012, I served as the Director, Resource Management, White House Communications Agency, Washington DC.

I've commanded two Air Force Squadrons and deployed multiple times, including tours in Kuwait and Iraq. I've led complex cost analysis and contracting organizations, managed weapon system acquisition programs, and am well versed in all aspects of the US federal budget. I retired in 2014 as Chief, Financial Management Analysis, Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City LA.

I'm a proud graduate of LSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business. Additionally, I've earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Masters of Science in Strategic Leadership degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology.

For the last 6 years, I've helped manage my family's farm while reestablishing my deep roots in the 5th Congressional District. I'm married to the former Candice King of New Roads LA and we have two sons, Tyler and Brandon.
  • "...The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed", period!
  • Big Tech must allow conservative thought to flow freely in America.
  • Open the economy safely, but immediately; small businesses are dying.
Right now, I am primarily focused on big tech censorship of conservative thought, protection of second amendment rights, and pro-life protections. I am also focused on rural infrastructure improvements, deregulation, and economic development.

Honesty and integrity. You cannot effectively govern without the trust of the district.
First and foremost, I am not a politician. I am a military officer, a farmer, and a leader. I know the people of the 5th congressional district. I also know DC from my military background, but not from politics. Said another way, I understand the swamp, but I am not of the swamp.
Dairy farmer. As the son of a dairy farmer, I started working in some capacity about the time I could walk. On a farm, it is "all hands on deck", everyday, all day. I had the job until I left for college at 18. It taught me the meaning of a hard days work, and instilled a work ethic in me that sustained me through my long military career.
I watched Shrek not long ago. Every time I watch that show, "I'm a Believer" by Smash Mouth is stuck in my head for days. Conversely, when I hear that song on the radio, I see the Shrek scene in my mind.
One of the biggest struggles of may life has been trying to run for office the last few weeks. The political establishment does not want an outsider to gain power. My eyes have been opened to just how hard it is to break into this "political club", but the effort will be worth it in the end.
Experience in government is important. However, I believe at this point in our nations history, political experience is a negative. DC is too political and polarized. We need outsiders in Congress to move this country forward. I have 22 years federal budget experience, farming experience, and extensive leadership experience, but have never been a politician.
Potentially the greatest challenge facing our country is the decline of civil discourse. This is largely because of big tech and the social media echo chambers they've created. We must reign in big tech and ensure the free flow of Conservative thought in America.
I am highly qualified to serve on any of the following committees: Agriculture, Appropriations, Armed Services, Budget, Financial Services, Veteran's Affairs, and Ways and Means

Conerly’s campaign website stated the following:

  • Pro Life

Chad is 100% pro-life, and will work tirelessly to protect the unborn.

  • Pro Law Enforcement

Chad backs the Blue. Law and order is key to a functioning democracy.

  • Pro Second Amendment

"The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," period!

  • Pro Agriculture

Being a farmer himself, being pro agriculture isn't just a talking point ... Chad lives it.

  • Protect Election Integrity

Chad will always fight to protect the sanctity and security of our elections.

  • Stop Big Tech Censorship

Conservative thought must be allowed to flow freely in America.

  • Rural Internet Access

Chad is running his campaign from a mobile hotspot, and understands the challenges facing unconnected communities and how this makes it difficult to attract business and industry to rural areas.

  • Rural Economic Development

The 5th Congressional District is one of the poorest districts in the country, with incredible natural resources. Chad will work to lift the hard working people of the 5th. [2]
