Chad Klitzman is an attorney and screenwriter who is the proud product of public schools in District 35. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Law School, Chad has worked as a lawyer at two of the world's leading law firms and served in the Office of Management and Administration in the Obama White House. Chad is also the writer and co-producer of the Netflix original film "Candy Jar". In 2020, Chad ran for Broward County Supervisor of Elections and came within 0.3% of victory in that countywide race while winning Senate District 35 by a few percentage points. Chad is running for the Florida Senate to make Florida a more affordable and inclusive place to live, with a focus on lowering property insurance rates and fighting for reproductive rights. Chad has been endorsed by multiple current and former legislators.
  • Chad will fight to make District 35 more affordable, especially when it comes to property insurance.
  • Chad will defend reproductive rights and the right to privacy enshrined in the Florida Constitution.
  • Chad will protect access to the ballot and ensure that mail-in voting is accessible and secure.
Property Insurance: Countless residents have lost coverage or find themselves unable to obtain insurance altogether. We need a fighter in Tallahassee who is unafraid to stand up to insurance interests and who will ensure our homes are covered in the event of a catastrophe.

Reproductive Rights: Reproductive rights are under attack in our country in the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, and, sadly, Florida has become known nationally for its extreme six-week abortion ban (which has not yet taken effect given ongoing litigation). We need fighters in Tallahassee who will hold politicians to account when they decide to get in between a woman and her medical provider and who will do whatever is in their power to improve access to affordable reproductive health care.

Voting Rights: Voting rights are under attack and politicians in Tallahassee seem committed to making it as difficult as possible to make our voices heard. Chad is incredibly passionate about both election administration and voting rights and will do whatever he can to defend our right to cast a ballot. This includes fighting to expand our vote by mail program, improving civics education in our schools, working to curtail the impact of pervasive gerrymandering and securing our voting systems through improved cybersecurity protocols and audit procedures.

Chad is also passionate about LGBTQ+ rights and transportation policy, as well as Everglades preservation.
I vividly remember the 2000 election, mainly because of all of the discussions around hanging "Chads"!
My first professional experience was a Congressional internship in Washington, DC, which was my first foray into politics. I interned over a summer during high school.
The Sunshine State is becoming less affordable and inclusive. We need to address this in order to remain an attractive place for folks to live. I also believe we need to be doing more to ready our communities for the effects of climate change, which we are already dealing with on a daily basis.
Absolutely. It is critical that legislators build relationships with one another so there is a certain level of collegiality that fosters collaboration and creativity when it comes to crafting solutions to our state's most pressing challenges.
Compromise is absolutely necessary in order to craft policy. While I am willing to compromise in order to get something across the line, I vow to not compromise my values in the process.
State Senator Tina Polsky, State Representative Michael Gottlieb, Broward County School Board Chair Lori Alhadeff, Broward County School Board Member Allen Zeman, former State Senator Eleanor Sobel, former State Senator Robert McKnight, former State Representative Richard Stark, former Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober, former Cooper City Mayor Debby Eisinger, former Coconut Creek Mayor Lisa Aronson, Ellie Schafer (former Special Assistant to President Obama for Management and Administration)
