The Judicial Update

March 12, 2011

Michigan: Judge Chad Schmucker, of Michigan's 4th Circuit Court, was appointed state court administrator by the Michigan Supreme Court. In this new position, he will be responsible for supervising all offices and divisions of the State Court Administrator’s Office. Schmucker has served on the 4th Circuit Court in Jackson County since 1991 and is respected among the judicial community for his administrative capabilities. All of his fellow 4th Circuit Court judges praised him. Judge John McBain explained, “I think one of the great things he’s going to bring to the table is years of great administrative ability and leadership." Another of Schmucker's co-workers, Judge Thomas D. Wilson, stated, “I can’t think of a better person to take the job." Also, Judge Susan E. Beebe said, "He thinks about everything — how to make it faster, how to make it better, how to make it easier for people." Judge Schmucker himself called the new position an "interesting challenge". He is expected to take office on March 28, 2011.[1]
