Channing Von Taylor better known by Von-T, is an 18-year retired Army captain American rapper, DJ, singer, songwriter, actor, and activist. He attended all levels of school in the state of Georgia and graduated from Columbus State University in Criminal Justice. Channing was a victim of the system in his community broken to the ones forgotten about so that is who he includes in his fight. Von-T was discriminated against in the Army and charged under UCMJ for pursuing his musical dream. Hip-Hop being the genre that was specifically targeted. Von-T launched what is known as "Operation Musical Freedom” and since created AMAG (Americans Make America Great) movement which is now exposing laws and greed plaguing America today. This is a movement to put an end to unlawful behaviors that have threated our progress and our children's future. Taking on community issues and making a statement that our current leaderships behavior will not be tolerated by the American people who helped build this great nation. Channing also goes by the name TDO Von-T “The Hope".
  • First and foremost, "AMAG is AMAG" is a movement I think all of us can relate. "Americans Make America Great" is "A Movement Against Greed". With the help of the people, we can be reminded of the greatness we already have. America cannot "be great again" because it is the daily actions of the people that already make it a wonderful place to be. There is no past era to return to, only current actions to improve. This is a statement against greed" and anyone who exploits our children, veterans, senior citizens, animals, or the people for personal gain alone should not hold a position of power.
  • Intimidation & bullying seems to have been adopted as a common practice now, and we all put too much into our homes and families for systems that were supposed to be in place to help those in a time of need, if they qualified to watch them lose everything. I too was a victim right in the community I am fighting for, therefore I have firsthand experience on what it feels like for the community to fail you. Keeping what you worked hard for preserves your peace and a necessity to protect your emotional and mental energy.
  • Having been charged in the Army for pursuing a hip-hop career, I know current laws are being used as tools to target specific cultures and groups. I want to hear the communities' issues on what they feel makes their day-to-day life harder and ensure our tax dollars go to exactly what the "collective whole" wishes to see change and fight to get it done. In my personal reflections, I understand the impact of losing people to gun violence and the necessity of removing "toxic" influences from one's life to maintain personal and community peace.
Housing affordability. Knowing what it feels like to lose my home within this very county after trying everything I could to save it, I understand how important being able to afford your home is. At least 94 of Georgia's 159 counties are facing a shortage of housing, driving up prices. There needs to be a strong focus on cutting through government red tape and reducing regulatory barriers to speed up housing construction. We could do this by including zoning reform, encouraging diverse housing types (like townhouses), and increasing tenant and homeowner protections. I advocate for increased funding for first-time homebuyers and capping corporate ownership of single-family housing.
