|I am a leader in the legal community, having served on multiple boards, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, and Illinois CASA. I have been honored with numerous awards for my service and selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for several consecutive years.
Community involvement is not just a part of my life; it's central. I have served as a trustee for the Library Board and am an active PTA member in Addison School District 4.- I believe in restorative justice's power to change young lives' trajectory. Rather than relying solely on punitive measures, restorative justice brings together the offender, the victim, and the community to address the harm caused and create pathways for accountability and rehabilitation. I am a part of a workgroup supported by the Illinois Supreme Court dedicated to implementing restorative justice practices within our juvenile courts, ensuring that young people can learn from their mistakes, make amends, and reintegrate into society as productive members. I am working alongside organizations like the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to secure grants that help fund mental health services for juveniles. As a judge, I continue to advocate for expanded access to treatment programs, working with social services and community partners to provide resources that address underlying issues and offer families the help they need to heal and thrive.
- Family preservation and reunification are central to my approach to child welfare cases. I believe that children do best when they remain connected to their families and communities, and families should be supported in staying together whenever safe and possible. I have spearheaded efforts in our juvenile courts to increase the availability of court family conferences, bringing families together with social workers and legal advocates to create reunification plans. My goal is to ensure that parents and children receive the resources, support, and guidance needed to overcome obstacles and rebuild their lives, emphasizing the importance of keeping families intact while prioritizing the safety and well-being of the child.
I am also deeply committed to advancing equal access and fairness for all individuals before the court. Regardless of their background or circumstances, everyone should have the opportunity to be heard and treated with respect and dignity. This means supporting policies that ad
