  • My candidacy is NOT just wanting to be on council, nor political aspirations and career goals. I stand with you on genuine concerns. I am a born and raised citizen first with the desire to help make our lives better. I stand before you because I am you. I am running for just one seat on the Charlotte City Council at Large for three reasons: Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics.
  • That is what my campaign is about. But let me tell you why I am a candidate for a seat on the council. As most of you know, I am a native of this great city. I have been in Charlotte for all of my 55 years of living. For 25 of those 55 years, I have been a proud small business owner, community activist, and volunteer mentor.
  • My activism took me to some of Charlotte’s poorest neighborhoods. I joined with pastors and police officers to deal with communities that had been devastated with crime due to the lack of jobs. Living in the Historic Hidden Valley, I saw that the crime, and violence surrounding us is deeply rooted in poverty; the same poverty that unemployment in Derita and Tanglewood could be linked to. It was in these neighborhoods that I received the best education I ever had, and where I learned the true meaning of service.
Community Question Featured local question
Yes. By being more aware of your surroundings and and following the rules and protocols. Being prepared for anything and doing what's best for you and your family.
Community Question Featured local question
Crime rates are increasing as the flux of citizens increase, CMPD has great information. Yes changes and hopefully some implementation will happen fairly quickly.
Community Question Featured local question
Parts are healthy. 5 minutes one way is vibrant and full of life, 5 minute in another direction is poverty and famine. I see a healthy downtown/uptown is where all people can smile and be happy, and prosperous where they work, live and play. we need to put all people to work with livable wages.
Community Question Featured local question
It is very important to be stakeholders in the communities in which you live. We have to be a part of the decision making for equality and equity for all. I plan on having quarterly Town Halls, forums and workshops. No involvement, no commitment.
Community Question Featured local question
Transparency and Accountabilty is key. All policies that are already created should be held to the highest standards.
Community Question Featured local question
I will address crime and public safety through jobs, law enforcement and programs that do not work.
Some programs need to replaced. We need to reallocate funding to areas that is much more in need than others. Even though there is a pay increase for workers, we also have to see how to balance organizations that are helping to curve the crime on the streets.
Community Question Featured local question
I would definitely take gentrification and displacement into consideration when it comes down to any type of development. The housing crisis is here and we need to take care of our own issues first. Accountability and incentives to have them hire from community will help to balance some of it.
Community Question Featured local question
Community Question Featured local question
Supporting true community engagement, code, and fire programs that keeps the neighborhoods safe. Support better wages and extended de-escalation and citizens academy training in law enforcement will assist as well and

consistently provide additional resources to unstable neighborhoods, seniors and children. All of the above is just a few ways to take different approaches.
Community Question Featured local question
As our population increases at a rapid rate, energy, water and waste are areas where we are still having major issues as well. We cannot afford to keep removing our natural preservation and continually have a lot of gas emissions. I am in full support of the experts and will encourage and support a more eco-friendly system.
Community Question Featured local question
More training with officers versus the standard shot to kill and ask questions later approach. Accountability, community partners and engagement ; as well as mental health wellness evaluations and follow ups before hiring.

Community Question Featured local question
Isolation, masking and washing hands and avoiding contact is the best way to help you and others. Follow guidelines to help keep us all safe as possible, We are not the experts and we rely on those who have more experience with the CDC.

It is time to have a representative who is committed to being a voice of the people.
The office provides leadership, maintain order, provides public services, and resources communities.
All those who has persevered and given us the opportunities to excel in life. The ones who paved the way, through trials, devastation and hardship. This is what keeps me going. We have to stand for what is right, versus whats is popular.
Great communication skills. Morals, Ethics, Character, Accountable, and Transparent.
Centered principles, Caring, Compassionate, Honest, Transparent, Accessible.
To know that I help to "CHANGE" the course of History!
I can remember when I seen the a Black man by the name of Obama was running for President in 2008. I was 40.
My first job was McDonalds and Wendys. I worked two with a work release form school. I worked on both for about 2-3 years.
Healing wounds of the past
As a woman, who has experienced tremendous pain (emotionally, physically, sexually, mentally, verbally, etc...) and having carried within me the remembrances of every single infliction that was placed on me, I had a newfound appreciation for what I’ve been through and hope for the future of my life.
Holding my passion back for others in need.
The City Manager and Mayor runs the city and they work together very closely in my own opinion. Collectively we can help change the broken system.
Not necessarily. Even though it is important, we need to make sure the office is diverse and reflect the people that live here and their unique experiences.
Knowing the budget and distribution of the budget to help take care of the people who voted the local politicians into office.
