Charlene Williams is the Oregon Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction. She assumed office on September 29, 2023. Her current term ends on January 11, 2027.
Williams was appointed to the nonpartisan position on June 27, 2023, by Gov. Tina Kotek (D), following the resignation of Colt Gill.[1]
Williams was confirmed as the Oregon Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction on September 29, 2023 by the Oregon State Senate. [2]
Biography
Prior to being named Oregon Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction, Williams served as Deputy Superintendent of Evergreen Public Schools (2022-2023) and Assistant Superintendent of the Camas School District (2016-2022) in Washington. Williams worked for Portland Public Schools from 2002 to 2016. [3]
Education
Williams earned a B.S. in mathematics education from North Carolina State University.
Williams earned a Master of Education in mathematics from Wake Forest University, and a Doctor of Education in education leadership from Lewis and Clark College. [4]
