Charles (Chuck) Owen
Charles Owen (Republican Party) is a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 30. He assumed office on January 13, 2020. His current term ends on January 10, 2028.
Owen (Republican Party) won re-election to the Louisiana House of Representatives to represent District 30 outright in the primary on October 14, 2023, after the general election was canceled.
Biography
Owen earned his B.S. from Louisiana Tech University in 1984, his MBA from Louisiana Tech University in 1986, and his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in 2011. Owen's professional experience includes working as a defense consultant for 13 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 2006.[1]

Jesus Christ, first and foremost. He's my redeemer and Lord. In an earthly sense, the oerson I have most looked up to through my life was an is my father, Chester Creighton Owen.
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Integrity, accountability, accessability
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
Integrity, work ethic, firm belief in the US Constitution
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To be a servant to the public. Elected officials work FOR the people.
What legacy would you like to leave?
One of integrity and candor and hard work
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
The first historical event I remember is watching the first moon landing and moon walk; I was age six. My parents called me in from outside to watch the event on our television.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
Lifeguard, summer after my juinor year in high school. On a professional basis, my first job was my longest job; I was commissioned into the Air Force at age 23, and remained on active duty for 20 years.
What is your favorite book? Why?
The Bible; it is the guidepost for my life. As to non-religious books, my favorite is "When Character was King" by Peggy Noonan. It's a great account of the life of Ronald Reagan
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Every state besides Nebraska has two legislative chambers. What do you consider the most important differences between the legislative chambers in your state?
The House in Louisiana is a much more wieldly and fluid organization. The Senate is more deliberative. The bodies are very similar in many ways.
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?
Not necessarily.
What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?
Trying to attract businesses and repair a collapsing economic structure.
What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature?
Mutual respect, with each understanding the role and responsibilities as driven by the State Constitution.
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
Yes. I believe in cooperation, always. Relationships are critical, as people must be able to work across and within party lines. I believe in civility. I do not believe in compromising key principles, however. There are things which cannot and should not ever be compromised in a legislative sense.

I will do what is required or asked to help my State and my party.

Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
Many more than I have time to share. I will write a book when my campaign is over. I've been to over 4,500 homes and have journaled this effort.
