Charles Barton (Colorado)
Charles M. Barton was the chief judge of the Colorado 11th Judicial District Court. He was appointed to the court in January of 2003.[1] He retired on July 1, 2015.[2]
Education
Barton received an economics degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and a J.D. from Northern Kentucky University.[1]
Career
Barton has worked as a private practice lawyer in both Colorado and Ohio. He specialized in criminal law. Prior to his judicial appointment, he was a deputy district attorney in the cities of Pueblo and Canon, Colorado.[1]
Elections
2012
Barton was retained in the general election on November 6, winning 70.35 percent of the vote.[3]

Judicial performance evaluation
The Tenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance announced its recommendations for judges up for retention in 2012. According to its website, the commission evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, and administrative performance.<
Judge Barton was recommended for retention by an unanimous vote. [4]
