Charles Dean
Charles S. "Charlie" Dean, Sr. (b. May 31, 1939) is a former Republican member of the Florida State Senate, representing District 5 from 2008 to 2016. Dean served as the Senate Majority Whip.
Dean did not seek re-election to the Florida State Senate in 2016 because of term-limits.
Dean served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2002 to 2007.
Biography
Dean earned his A.A. from Central Florida Community College in 1962, his B.S. in Criminology/Police Administration from Florida State University in 1963 and his M.S. in Criminal Justice from Rollins College in 1976. He attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Sheriffs' Institute in 1983. His professional experience includes interning for the City of Tampa Police and working as Investigator for Florida Installment Land Sales, Juvenile Counselor for the Citrus County Juvenile Court, Director of General Services for the Citrus County School Board, Citrus County Sheriff, and as a consultant and cattleman. Dean served in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1964.

Dean won re-election in the 2012 election for Florida State Senate District 3. Dean ran unopposed in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012, and was unchallenged in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
2008

On November 4, 2008, Dean won election to the 3rd District Seat in the Florida State Senate, defeating Susan Franks (D). Dean raised $491,892 for his campaign, while Franks raised $69,847.[3]
