Charles E. Jefferson
Charles E. Jefferson (b. March 31, 1945) is a former Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 67 from 2001 until he resigned on July 2, 2014.[1] He served as Assistant Majority Leader.
Biography
Jefferson's professional experience includes working as a nonprofit administrator. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1971.[2]

Elections
2014
Elections for the Illinois House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on March 18, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was December 2, 2013. Incumbent Charles E. Jefferson ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, but resigned from his position on July 2, 2014. Litesa E. Wallace (D) filed to run on July 31, 2014, and was unchallenged in the general election. Wallace was sworn in as the new representative on August 4, 2014.[3][4][5]
2012
Jefferson won re-election in the 2012 election for Illinois House of Representatives District 67. Jefferson defeated Gloria M. Lind in the March 20 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7][8]

Jefferson won re-election to the 67th District seat against Republican Robert E. Brokish, Jr.. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on February 2nd. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[9]

The Illinois Opportunity Project, "an independent research and public policy enterprise that promotes legislative solutions in advance of free markets and free minds," annually releases its Legislative Vote Card, grading all members in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly on the basis of their support of "pro-growth economic policies that increase personal freedom and reign in expansive government."[12][13]

Jefferson received a score of 0.00 out of 100 in 2012 for a grade of F according to the IOP’s grading scale. His score was tied for the lowest among all 120 members of the Illinois House of Representatives included in the Vote Card.[13]

Jefferson has three children. He is President of the Rockford Sportsmen Golf Association, Past President of the New Zion Day Care Center, Past President of the Rockford West Lions Club, and Past Vice President of United Way.[2]
