I'm a veteran and lifelong First Coast resident. Born in Middleburg, he was raised by working class parents; his dad a salesman and his mom a flower shop owner.

Over the last ten years, I have advocated for communities across Jacksonville. I began his work as a Big Brother through Duval’s Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. In 2015, I joined the board of directors of JASMYN, Jacksonville’s LGBTQ youth services organization, where I soon became Chair of their property board of directors. Working in banking, I oversaw and helped families find affordable housing, expanded access to mortgages, and helped eliminate barriers to homeownership, including working with my employer to change their policy as it related to applicants with prior felony convictions.

I am currently the chair of the Water Committee on Jacksonville’s Environmental Protection Board, which I joined after serving as the previous Secretary on Jacksonville’s Housing & Community Development Commission. I also serve on the board of directors for Changing Homelessness, a local non-profit whose vision is to end homelessness.

I am running for Jacksonville City Council, At-Large Group 5, because I knows I can be the leader the city needs to build us forward.
  • Like many living in Duval, I am tired of hearing about Jacksonville’s potential — I am ready to see that potential realized.
  • Over my career, I have seen how we can bring real change to our communities by coming together, despite our differences, and advocating for the issues that matter.
  • No matter our race, gender identity, who we love, or what ZIP code we live in, everyone in Jacksonville deserves the same access to housing, clean water, and well-paying jobs.
When I was in High School, I contemplated suicide, going so far as putting a loaded shotgun in my mouth. As an LGBTQ teen, I was trying to navigate who I was and what society wanted me to be. My experience during this time eventually led me to become an advocate for mental health, the LGBTQ community, and affordable housing, since so many LGTBQ youth face homelessness.

During my time in the banking industry, I helped homeowners, that were struggling to make ends meet and pay their mortgages, navigate the mortgage loan modification process. The later half of my almost decade-long tenure in banking, I helped families obtain the American Dream of purchasing their first home. Through this work, I saw the full need for leaders at all levels to advocate and support affordable and workforce housing initiatives.
The major historical event that I remember, at least the one that I can remember like it was yesterday, was the terrorist attacks on 9/11. I was sitting in my 9th Grade Spanish 1 class. There was a murmur beginning across the entire school after the first plane hit the north tower, that was when my teacher, Ms. Gibbs, turned on the TV. The rest of the day, everyone's eyes and ears were glued to the TV.

The resulting aftermath and more importantly, the entire country coming together to support one another, showed me that no matter what, deep down we all still have something in common and can - and will - come together when it truly matters. But I want to see that support and togetherness beyond those extreme times of hardship.
