Greer issued the following statement regarding his bid for office:

As Louisiana's Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry, I will use my experience, knowledge and leadership to make the Department of Agriculture & Forestry a proactive agency with sufficient manpower and funding. Instead of the reactive, understaffed and inefficient agency that is currently in place, I will make sure that food and fiber consumed or used by the taxpayers of this state are safe and accurate in purity and content. I will also work to ensure that the cattleman and farmers of Louisiana have the best representation at their disposal, as well as make sure that the timberlands of this state are protected from wildfires, timber theft, and vandalism.

I am Charlie Greer, and I am asking for your support of my candidacy for Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry for the great state of Louisiana. I look forward to the challenge and the responsibility to work for you, the hardworking citizens of Louisiana. If you want a Commissioner who will protect the agriculture and forestry interests of Louisiana, vote Charlie Greer. [3]
