I have been a full-time Eagle Nest resident for more than 14 years. I am a retired special education teacher and a retired farmer. I moved to Eagle Nest from Kansas when I retired from teaching. I chose Eagle Nest because I love living in the mountains.
  • Employment and retention of well-qualified and competent personnel is my first priority.
  • Survey and solicitation of public input on major village projects is my second priority.
  • Maintaining village infrastructure - water supply, sewer system, streets, and trash collection is my third priority.
I am most passionate about providing necessary services to village residents.
It is the most basic system of government that exists. A council person lives in the community that he or she serves and is as equally effected by anything that impacts the community as any of the other residents.
I look up to Barak Obama, because he overcame many obstacles to become President of the United States. He was able to accomplish many things while enduring very nasty criticism. He also understood that power does have its limits, and that there were some things about which he could do nothing. He is also a deliberate, concise and articulate speaker.
Elected official must have he ability to listen to their constituents and truly represent them. They should never cater to those with the most power.the
Maintaining essential services to the community are the most important duties of this office.
I would like to leave the world a better place than it was when I entered it. At this time I'm not sure that's at all possible, but I can only hope.
I vividly remember the Cuban Missile Crisis when I was 12 years old. I remember my family being concerned that we might all die in a nuclear war.
My first job, at age 12, was driving a tractor for my grandfather on his farm.
The complete book of Sherlock Holmes mysteries is my favorite, because I have always loved the way he was able to take the most obscure details and reason out a solution to a problem. Also, I love the humor of Douglas Adams' novels.
As with the above question, it would be great to be Sherlock Holmes and be able to see details that others overlook.
I have too often lost family members who were important in my life. Many of them died much too young.
Since there are only four council people, one member can do little without the ability to effectively influence the other members.
It is very beneficial to have had previous experience in government. Knowing how the system works and knowing what resources are available is extremely important.
The ability to work cooperatively with the other council members and village personnel is vital. Also the ability to listen to these people with an open mind, not with preconceived notions.
This office is unique in that a council member is one-fourth of a decision-making body whose decisions can impact the entire community and may lives.
My neighbor, who has lived in this area nearly all her life, has told me about the hardships of growing up here. Her life was much more difficult than mine, but she has become a responsible and successful person who I truly admire.
I never had much athletic ability, but I have learned to ski relatively well after age 60.
