Charles Sherman Haight Jr. is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the court in 1976 after being nominated by President Gerald Ford.

Early life and education

A native of New York, New York, Haight graduated from Yale University with his bachelor's degree in 1952 and from Yale Law School with his LL.B. in 1955.[1]

Judicial career

Southern District of New York

Haight was nominated by President Gerald Ford on March 2, 1976, to a seat on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York vacated by Murray Gurfein. Haight was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 26, 1976, and he received his commission on March 29, 1976. Haight elected to take senior status beginning on September 23, 1995. Haight was succeeded in this position by Richard Casey.[1]
