An effort to recall Charles Kucinski from his position on the Nutley Public Schools Board of Education in New Jersey did not go to a vote in 2021.[1]
The recall effort began in June 2021.[2] Supporters of the effort said they were not happy with the district's efforts to return elementary school students to school full time. At the time the recall effort started, elementary school students were attending school five half-days a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[2]
Kucinski was re-elected to the nine-member board in 2019.[2][3]

The group leading the recall effort included more than 250 parents. Laure Del Tufo, a member of the group, said group members felt they had no other choice after spending months calling for the board to allow elementary school students to return to school full time. "It was clear to us that Mr. Kucinski hasn’t demonstrated the capability or desire to do everything possible to reopen the schools for our children," Del Tufo said.[2]
