Charles J. Lee is a judge of the Superior Court of Fresno County in California. Lee assumed office in 2021. Lee's current term ends on January 8, 2029.

Lee won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Fresno County in California outright in the primary on June 7, 2022, after the primary and general election were canceled.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) appointed Lee to the court on December 23, 2021, to replace Jane Cardoza.[1]

Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Gov. Newsom's office announcing Lee's appointment on December 23, 2021, identified him as a Democrat.[1]

Biography

Lee received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law. He was an Associate at Ciummo and Associates from 2003 to 2004, at Wallin and Klarich from 2004 to 2005, then again at Ciummo and Associates in 2005. From 2005 to 2008, he served as a Deputy Public Defender at the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office. He served in various positions in the Office of the Federal Public Defender, Eastern District of California from 2008 onwards, including Senior Litigator since 2020, directly prior to his 2021 appointment.[1]
