Campaign themes

2017

Gers' campaign Facebook page highlighted the following issues:

Racism
MN is the top 2nd worst state for racial inequality. As the largest city in the state, we must acknowledge racial inequatliy in housing, education, criminal justice, etc. and help overcome it.

Drug War
Since the Drug War began in 1971, the government has spent more than $1 trillion incarcerating thousands of non-violent offenders. It's long overdue to rethink our drug policies and end the Drug War.

Free Speech
The First Amendment prohibits the restriction of speech. 'Safe space' zones prevent robust discussions from occurring on areas where people disagree.

Property Taxes
Hennepin County, home to Minneapolis, has an average property tax rate of 1.345%, which is more than .10% above the national average. Reducing property taxes is essential for the city's progress.

Marriage Equality
The Libertarian Party has supported LGBT rights since the party's establishment in 1971. As a Libertarian, I oppose any law that criminalizes consensual sexual activity between adults.[5]
