An effort to recall Mayor Charlie Hales and City Commissioner Steve Novick in Portland, Oregon from their positions was launched in July 2014.[1] The recall did not move forward after supporters failed to collect enough signatures.[2]
Recall proponent arguments
Recall leader Ray Horton is targeting Hales and Novick due to their support of a monthly street fee for residents and businesses in order to fund street maintenance.[1]

A recall petition against Hales and Novick was filed by Ray Horton on July 15, 2014. Supporters needed to turn in 34,921 signatures by October 9 in order to bring the recall to a vote.[1] Horton was short by approximately 10,000 signatures to move either recall forward.[2]
