The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 13, 2014. Two candidates were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while nine candidates faced off in the Republican primary.[5] The general election was contested by two Democrats and five Republicans. The Democrats were Charlotte Lister and Stephen D'Angelo. The Republicans participants were William M. Gannon, Jason Osborne, Chris True, incumbent Joseph Hagan, and incumbent James Devine. All five Republicans were victorious over the Democrats in the general election.[6]
