I have spent my entire career directly addressing community problems, writing and passing many state and federal laws, and building consensus around socioeconomic issues because of losing my little brother and becoming a mother. My brother died from an accidental drug overdose in our home in 2008. Out of heartbreak and devastation, my family and I started Live4Lali, a grassroots nonprofit that helps folks navigate the challenges of mental health and substance use. Today, we provide education, support, advocacy, and life-saving supplies in four counties, serving thousands annually. During COVID lockdown, I worked full-time from home running a small business, a nonprofit, and seeing my clients in private practice who I serve as their therapist. All while caring for my toddler, by myself, as my husband worked as a Physician Assistant treating COVID patients. With women leaving the workforce at rapid rates and working families struggling to find a work-life balance and fair pay, I want to empower our local families by bringing my problem-solving skills to state government. As a social worker and an advocate, I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves in the name of equity, access, facts, honesty, and democracy.
  • I am an experienced consensus builder and trusted leader with a proven track record of creating positive changes across our community and Illinois.
  • The residents of District 51 have been misrepresented for years in Springfield and deserve a candidate who will listen, bring people together to solve issues, and have the audacity, skillset, and thoughtful urgency to do something about it. Having helped write and pass more than twenty state laws and federal laws, you can count on me to take action on your behalf.
  • After losing my brother to an overdose, I know how to turn pain into fuel for good. I have founded successful local nonprofits and community coalitions that have become nationally recognized models saving lives, connecting people to care, and increasing community safety.
Mental health and reproductive healthcare access, affordable childcare, standing up for marginalized groups, and ensuring education, economic advancement, and community-based resources are accessible and achievable for all.

After knocking on thousands of doors and having conversations with voters in my community, my priorities have become robust and reflective of those who I will be serving as State Representative. My priorities reflect residents' needs and our shared values. I will be focusing on issues that are keeping folks up at night, including:
1. Building a more robust economy, increasing good-paying jobs, and reducing the property tax burden
2. Preserving our environment
3. Improving access to quality healthcare that meets people where they are at, including mental health, care for seniors, and reproductive healthcare access
4. Quality education and increased social-emotional support for students, their teachers, and school staff
5. Bipartisan consensus-building and collaboration

6. Building safer communities and preventing violence in all forms
