Issues

Minimum wage

In September 2014, Hamilton was one of five Democratic sponsors of a proposal to raise Louisville's minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 per hour over the course of a three year period. Supporters of the proposal argued that the increase was necessary to help minimum wage workers keep up with the rising cost of living in the city. Opponents, on the other hand, argued that the increase would drive up prices for basic goods and services and cause unemployment.[5]
