Cheryl H. Johnston is a judge of the Thirteenth Judicial District Court in New Mexico. She was elected in November 2014, effective January 1, 2015, for a term that expires on December 31, 2020.[1]

General: She defeated Chris G. Perez in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 51.9 percent of the vote. [1] 

Education

Johnston earned her undergraduate degree from Rice University in 1977 and her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1981.[2]

Career

Prior to her election to the bench, Johnston was a trial lawyer with 30 years of experience. She previously served as a deputy district attorney for the Thirteenth Judicial District and Second Judicial District.[2]
